ICG's Mission as a Facilitator of Small Business Development

Inventory Capital Group, Inc. (ICG) has a mission as a facilitator of small business development, and that mission involves the provision not only of capital for business growth but also of information, guidance and advice to help entrepreneurs achieve growth and profitability.

Ask any growth business owner and they’ll tell you that growing a business is both exhilarating and exacerbating, fulfilling and frustrating. Yet, entrepreneurs persevere because they have a dream. ICG’s mission is to help entrepreneurs realize their dreams.

ICG helps growth business owners contend with the seemingly infinite number of chicken and egg syndromes they face – from financing to regulation, from staffing to inventory. ICG provides real-world advice – as well as financing – to small and midsize growth companies, many of which have not been around long enough to establish credit, or do not have sufficient assets to justify an asset-based loan facility. These companies often do not qualify for funding from traditional sources; ICG has developed an innovative proprietary financial assessment system called Business Process Financing, to meet the financial needs of these growth businesses.

Representing a breakthrough approach to funding growth companies, Business Process Financing is an off-balance sheet alternative to giving up equity when debt financing is not available. By focusing on the purchase and sale of inventory, ICG’s Business Process Financing funds businesses by purchasing inventory directly from manufacturers and holding the inventory under ICG’s name. Agreements are customized for each ICG client to properly monitor and control key informational points.

The result of ICG’s due diligence process is often that ICG helps the client to ‘clean up’ key documents and business controls. In contrast to the traditional measures of credit quality: assets, liquidity or historical performance, ICG’s Business Process Financing concentrates on making its determination based on two criteria:

1. Is the business process sufficient to liquidate the inventory purchased by ICG?

2. Will the funds provided by ICG enable the client company to grow?

Through Business Process Financing, ICG has provided financing to companies most banks won’t go near. In addition, ICG’s Business Process Financing provides an attractive short-term alternative to equity financing for businesses that wish to avoid having to take on an equity partner, but need funding in order to implement a high-margin growth opportunity.

In addition, ICG has created the ICG Growth Business Resource Center, which provides entrepreneurs with information about financing growth businesses, including information about various forms of private finance and about Federal and State government funding programs for small business, as well as advice about which type of finance and which sources or programs may best serve their needs and how to access the available assistance.

The ICG Growth Business Seminars are both a key aspect of ICG’s Mission to Facilitate Small Business Development, and a key component of the ICG Growth Business Resource Center.
